Cornell University’s intensive Introduction to Architecture summer program is designed for high school and college students interested in pursuing a college degree or career in architecture.

In this video, students and faculty members discuss the six-week, six-credit program, which focuses on architectural ideas and principles as well as methods of exploring architectural issues in a studio setting. The heart of the program is the design studio, which is held in the afternoons and puts into practice what students learn during morning lectures and workshops.

The program is taught in the Rem Koolhaas-designed Milstein Hall on the Cornell campus, by faculty from Cornell’s Department of Architecture. It also incorporates portfolio development, periodic reviews by invited faculty and guest critics, and field trips.
