Maria Repnikova (Postdoctoral Fellow, Project for Advanced Research in Global Communication, University of Pennsylvania) outlines the relations between China’s critical journalists and the party-state in the past decade. She explains how critical journalists who investigate contentious issues manage to coexist with an authoritarian political system through various acts of guarded improvisation. Full lecture and Q&A recorded October 5, 2015 as part of East Asia Program's Cornell Contemporary China Initiative (CCCI) Lecture Series. Co-sponsored by the Department of Communication.
