Goldwin Smith Professor of English Literature Emeritus James McConkey read from his works Jan. 23 2014 as part of the Spring 2014 Barbara & David Zalaznick Reading Series.
Known for his meditative nonfiction narratives, McConkey is the author or editor of 14 books, including Court of Memory, Stories from My Life with the Other Animals, To a Distant Island, and The Anatomy of Memory. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Guggenheim fellowship, the National Endowment of Arts essay award and the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters award in literature.
McConkey's latest book, The Complete Court of Memory, released in December 2013, is dedicated to his late wife and includes narratives published in magazines but previously uncollected.
