On March 14, 2011 Curtis Reis '56 attended "Early Evening with David Skorton," a Cornell celebration held at Fox Studios in Los Angeles. We took the opportunity to have a conversation with Reis about Cornell.
In this clip, Reis describes being part of a family of Cornellians, learning from Mario Einaudi, trying to pass Vladimir Nabokov's literature tests, and creating a still-notorious fictional student named Narby Krimsnatch. He also reflects on his role in founding Cornell's Adult University, the reasons for the Cornell Club of Los Angeles's success, and what he feels are Cornell's most salient strengths today.
One of Cornell's most creative and generous advocates, Reis is an emeritus trustee, lifetime University Council member, and an anchor of the Cornell Club of L.A. He co-founded Cornell Adult University, established the West Coast Tower Club events, introduced the concept of Annual Fund phonathons, and created the first conference for alumni leaders. He received the Frank H.T. Rhodes Exemplary Alumni Service Award in 2000. He currently serves on the Athletics Advisory Council and the Tower Club National Committee.
