History professor Thomas Albert (Tal) Howard delivered the Fall 2012 Alan and Linda Beimfohr Lecture at Cornell on November 9, 2012.
Howard is the Stephen Phillips Chair of History and Director of the Center for Faith and Inquiry at Gordon College. He is the author of God and the Atlantic: America, Europe, and the Religious Divide (Oxford, 2011), which explores some of the long-standing differences between the United States and Western Europe with respect to religion.
Beimfohr Lectures bring intellectuals to campus to address issues related to faith in a pluralistic society and are sponsored by Chesterton House, the Christian studies center affiliated with Cornell United Religious Work.
