Steve Strogatz, Cornell's Jacob Gould Schurman Professor of Applied Mathematics, spoke at the Communicators@Cornell luncheon on June 17, 2010. Using examples from his recent New York Times column, Strogatz discussed the challenge of writing about complex ideas for a general audience.
Strogatz's 15-part series on mathematics ran from late January through early May 2010 on NYTimes.com. He is also the author of "The Calculus of Friendship," the story of his 30-year correspondence with his high school calculus teacher.
