Filmmakers from the Memory Project at the Caochangdi Workstation in Beijing bring villagers’ struggles, emotions, and memories from the Great Chinese Famine of 1959-1961 to life through performance art and video. The filmmakers are Memory Project co-founder Wenguang Wu, Mengqi Zhang, Xiaolei Liu, and Ping Zhang. Co-sponsored by the Department of Performing and Media Arts. Recorded November 7, 2016 as part of East Asia Program’s Cornell Contemporary China Initiative.
