Katie Kasabalis, a participant in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning's New York City program and a scholarship and financial aid recipient, reflects on the influence of architecture in people's lives. Kasabalis says seeing architects working in the field opened her eyes to how highly they regard the needs and desires of people.
Raised in Athens, Kasabalis was surprised to discover that New York City is more than just Manhattan. Her experience led her to explore the city's five boroughs where she encountered the challenges of creating sustainable designs for a city on the water's edge.
