Don Kaback was diagnosed with an abdominal aneurysm, a swelling of a blood vessel, which can lead to death. Complicating matters, Don had undergone open surgery 17 years ago to treat a prior aneurysm. Weill Cornell doctors enrolled Don in a clinical trial using custom-designed stent grafts, which are inserted into the aorta lining through blood vessels in the leg. The minimally invasive surgery has allowed Don to recover more quickly than traditional open surgery.
