The Cornell Savoyards performed a special sesquicentennial production of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera Princess Ida on June 24, 2015 at the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. Set in upstate New York in 1865, this original adaptation by Ithaca College professor Anthony Di Renzo celebrates Cornell's founding, dramatizes the campus culture of such nineteenth-century women's colleges as Vassar and Wells, and honors the Seneca Falls Convention.
Sponsored by the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions (SCE). The Cornell Savoyards regularly bring Gilbert and Sullivan operas to the community as part of SCE's free summer events series.
